Our process

Industrial machine processing brown fibrous material. Red, green, and black control buttons.

Once the raw down arrives from the nesting areas, it is placed into custom-built heating boxes where it is gently warmed to 125°C for 20 hours.

This stage ensures that the down is completely dry and sanitized before the next step.

After heating, the down is moved into specialized cleaning machines, where it is carefully washed and separated. It then goes through hand-cleaning, where each batch is inspected and refined to remove any remaining natural debris.

Finally, the down is weighed and stored in airtight heating boxes to preserve its pristine condition until it is ready to be filled into duvets and pillows.

Precise Heating & Cleaning

Three sealed, black bags in a shallow, water-filled tray. A fourth bag rests on a white shelf above.

The water used to wash the eiderdown comes from a 256-meter-deep geothermal borehole.

Naturally heated to 24°C, this water flows up on its own — clean, mineral-balanced, and laboratory-tested for purity.

Using this natural resource allows us to maintain both sustainability and unmatched cleanliness in our process.

Naturally Pure Icelandic Water

Once the down is ready, it is hand-filled into duvets and pillows using high-quality outer fabrics made from 100% cotton or fine mulberry silk.

Each duvet is constructed with box stitching (27 × 27 cm compartments) to keep the down evenly distributed for lasting warmth and comfort.

For example, a standard 140 × 200 cm duvet contains 35 compartments, each precisely filled by hand.

Expert Craftsmanship

Quality certificate in a plastic sleeve, with handwritten details and a seal.

After cleaning, testing, and filling, every duvet and pillow is issued with a certificate of authenticity confirming its Icelandic origin, purity, and quality.

The result is a piece of comfort that carries the legacy of centuries of Icelandic tradition — and the warmth of nature’s rarest down.
