What is included in the official quality certification?
This certificate ensures that the down in your product has been inspected, tested, and approved by the Icelandic Eiderdown Quality Committee (Íslenskur Æðardúnn), under law no. 52/2005.

In Iceland, the sale of eiderdown is protected by law. According to law, eiderdown may not be sold unless it has been inspected and certified by a licensed assessor. When you buy a product with an official quality certificate, you receive confirmation of the following:
100% Purity: The assessor confirms that the down is professionally cleaned and free of feathers, grass, and other impurities. Only the cleanest down receives the highest rating.
Quality and Cohesion: The certification ensures that the down has the correct "cling" (cohesion). This is the key characteristic of eiderdown that provides its unique insulation and lightness.
Correct Weight: The assessor weighs the down with precision and seals the product to ensure the buyer receives exactly the amount paid for.
Guarantee of Origin: The certificate is your security that this is genuine Icelandic eiderdown, collected in a sustainable manner from wild nature.
